COVID-19 Guidelines
We have researched and developed the COVID 19 Guidelines with the approval of Chester County Health Dept.
- Attached you will find the Game Day COVID 19 Screening Form. This form must be signed and submitted to the score table prior to your game. It has statements regarding your team member's health conditions along with Tracing / tracking procedures. Please note that the Malvern League WILL NOT be administering Temperature checks at the gym, leaving that responsibility with the parents and / or coaches prior to entering the gym on Game Day
- Masks will be worn by all team members and coaches as you enter and leave the building. As you may be aware, recently it has been ordered by the state of PA that masks be worn while competing and we are requiring teams to abide by this policy. However, there is an exception to the mask mandate during competition. The recent PA State Order has a Section 3B that states a participant does NOT have to wear a mask while competing " if wearing a face covering would cause a medical condition or exacerbate an existing one, including respiratory issues that impeded breathing, a mental health condition or a disability". Bench personnel including head coach and assistant coaches (maximum of 2) and reserve players will keep masks on during the game and especially during time-outs.
- Sanitizing products will be at the entrance / lobby of the gym or at the score table.
- Bench areas will be wiped and sanitized after each game by the scorekeeper or a Malvern League staff person. At some gyms, we may alternate bench locations from game to game - teams will be directed to their bench area.
- NO SPECTATORS will be allowed in the gym. We understand this may be an unpopular policy but this issue was a vital stipulation in our rental agreements with our gym locations. Just a suggestion ... some teams are having one of the assistant coaches stream/video the game and we encourage this.
- The number of team members on Game Day is limited to 10 players and a maximum of 3 coaches (a head coach and 2 assistants). This allows us to adhere to building capacity requirements.
- Players must bring their own towels and water / drinks.
- Scorekeepers will wear masks throughout the game. Referees will be required to wear masks entering and exiting the gym and at halftime and between games. Referees will also wear masks during the game competition and will have the option to opt out of wearing mask during competition based on the PA Order Section 3B stated above. Referees will also have the option of using the electronic hand-held whistles.
Regarding any question about practices, any practice time is not under the protocol / program of the Malvern League but I am sure you will agree that following similar guidelines at your practices would be prudent.
